Local Birdwatchers

Using the Birdingpal resources you must agree to the following: If you contact a local Birdingpal and make arrangement to go birding, you should note it is common courtesy to make sure you show up for the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to do this, the least you must do is contacting the local Pal right away.
Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

I am an hour and a half to two hours from the shore areas and over 3 hours from Cape May. I don't know Cape May very well, but I know Barnegat and Brigantine quite well. There are several good birding spots nearby with typical New Jersey species, but not too many rarities.

Marc Chelemer Tenafly, New Jersey Weekends and Weekday mornings English, passable French
Experienced birder (50 years, 10 of them focused on New Jersey) who has traveled and birded extensively all over the state--from the northwestern corner at High Point to the southern tip of Cape May, and all points in between.

I'd be delighted to share my state's exceptional diversity of habitats and species with birders from elsewhere. Beginners especially welcome. We can spend a half-day, a whole day, or any amount of time that suits your fancy. I normally find around 300 species in the state in a year; the yearly total for all birders is usually around 360--370. Depending on when you visit and what your interests are, we could encounter 60--100 on a good day.

All information about me, my background, my inspiration, and rates for guiding are found on my website. Short rate card: Half-day 4+ hours $150. Full day 8+ hours $300. Second and third guests discounted.

I look forward to hearing from you!
