Using the Birdingpal resources you must agree to the following: If you contact a local Birdingpal and make arrangement to go birding, you should note it is common courtesy to make sure you show up for the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to do this, the least you must do is contacting the local Pal right away.
Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

I live in Czestochowa, a town about 150km north of Krakow (Cracow). I have been running a bookshop for the last 21 years and done a lot of birdwatching in my spare time around Czestochowa.
There are many fishponds teeming with birds, a nature reserve of old deciduous wood, not regulated rivers with floodplains,a huge area of beautiful wet meadows.
Above all, there is a Jurrasic Uppland from Czestochowa to Krakow built of white limestone rocks. The area is really picteresque with old castles and Manor Houses.
I would be pleased to show anyone the interesting hot spots, where you can find among others:Wryneck,,Black Stork,Quail,Barred Warbler,Common Rosefinch,Corncrake,Ortolan Bunting,Black Woodpecker,Nightjar,Great Grey Shrike,Whiskered Tern,White-winged Tern,...I am also familiar with butterflies.
The best time to come is end of April and May.

I have been birdwatching for 15 years. Maybe Upper Silesia is not the best place for birding in Poland, but we have some good places (reservoirs).

Since 2003 I am a birdwatcher and ornithologist, as well as volunteer and member of Warsaw Local Group of Polish Society for the Protection of Birds. I live in the capital city of Poland. In Warsaw and around the city (central Poland) there are a lot of parks, forests, meadows, small rivers and ponds. The most richness areas near Warsaw are: the Kampinoska Primeval Forest and the valley of Wisla (Vistula) River with Zegrzynskie Lake (artificial, storage reservoir for water on the river).
